Schoolism digital painting with Bobby chui week 6
Day1:
Day2 :
I decided to do today a little different. I wanted to see how my traditional drawing influenced my digital drawing. I spent 20 minutes on each drawing. I realised when I draw traditionally I hold my pens in many different ways, sometimes closer to the nip and then sometimes more towards the end depending on the type of mark making I do, I am someone who prefers to draw in pen but you can see her sometimes it can get a little wobbly. I made him look very point here and he almost looks like he is the boss of some office or something. However moving onto the digital one I realised I could of pushed the tones a little, but over all I would say this is softer and captures the reference a little more then the traditional one. I practiced using the pen in a different way in the feathers. I feel like if I gave myself a little more time I could of pushed the texture a little more. This one was fun because it gave me a lot more to consider. the blurred background, the textured tree thingy. I used only the hard round brush and for this I used the blur tool here and there.
day 3:
oh gosh this was so hard! 20 minutes?! what a challenge. I tried the gradient tool today on this challenge. I then tried blocking out the bigger shapes. I feel like I tried to work so fast and still have time to take little eye rest breaks to try and improve it. I felt like the figures were really hard as well since the amount of contrast!
This is what I got up to this week! I have started my second term at university for my final year so things are back in full swing so I have just been doing a lot of planning and started some major pieces for my project. I think this class has really really helped my work flow and my illustration and sketching skills have speed up so quickly! I am also looking at reference and analysing in a whole now light. I am excited for next weeks class as I think its approaching speed painting! until next week...
