Hatching the human figure

A new week a new assignment! This week I have been hatching but also using 'Line of action' and trying to capture the gesture and life by using marks and hatching. I started off each day by doing five 5 minute poses and then two 10 minute poses.
Here is the first day!! As you can see a lot of my marks were very indecisive and I didn't go in with my full heart. A lot of my marks also look very scratchy and I defiantly left too much white space. I think for this i was trying to capture the shadows and lights rather then the form itself. I also don't feel like I captured the flow well in these at all.

This is day 2, as you can see not much had changed since day one. A few of these I tried to capture gesture more then anything because I really liked the flow of the reference the longer poses I defiantly feel like they could be improved, they feel very stiff. So with this disappointment in my heart i thought of how I could improve. And what better way to learn then from other people? I decided to watch feedback sessions on schoolism for this assignment and then it started to click more. I think i needed some reassurance and realised I needed to go full force ahead. So with that I looked forward to day 3.

And here it is- day 3! I feel where these still lack a lot I feel like these are looking a lot nicer then day 1 and 2. I didn't want to hold back and I went in hatching with my full heart! I didnt want to hold back and I didnt think too much as I was doing it, I tried to keep my mind clear and got down all flow. I need to try and stop capturing form as much with rounded vertical lines. I feel like it takes away a lot of the gesture.

And here we are on day 4 of the assignment, With this one I tried really hard on still letting go but also trying just to capture everything in front of me! No leaving out body parts and no rushing and panicking, just go with the flow. A few are too messy and a bit ugly but with this I can say a really had fun, so far I think i enjoy the shorter poses then the longer just because I capture more and don't over work. However tomorrow I have a 1 15 minute post planned instead of 2 10 minute poses.

And here we are day 5! The final day of the assignment. here we have five 5 minute poses and one 15 minute poses! I think I still have a lot to improve however I think I have made some improvement from day 1. I feel like I have been thinking a lot more about silhouettes and how I can manipulate my drawings to fit a silhouette instead of thinking about the main forms of the figure. I feel like in the long run this will help with how my drawings and paintings can read.

Over all I think this week was very successful and I cant wait to move on to the next assaginment and see how I can progress from there!
