Understanding colour and light

Wow have I been busy! Uni work has jumped into full swing and I'm working on so many exciting projects for my course I have recently attended Vertex convention in London. I got to go to so many talks and meet so many amazing people! It has motivated me to run full steam ahead, I may put up a post of my recent sketchbook drawings and studies!
But for now...
Here is the Assignment I had been working on, from Sam Nielson's "Fundamentals of lighting" on schoolism. I found this task.. ridiculously challenging, colour has always been a massive issue of mine. and now taking this really complicated class has melted my brain! I have finished this task about a fortnight ago and looking at it now It just looks messy and I can see so many flaws. I started by thinking of a lighting source and drawing parallel lines and really thinking of where the light is hitting to make the piece read as well as I can. I then started to think about where the shadows lay and the high lights. I then tried to work out then how the bounce light would work and how all the colours would interact with each other. And let me tell you.. It was a struggle! Especially trying to make the hole on the big cream shape.
Overall this was a challenge, I felt like I learnt from this.. however!! I am disappointed. I want to go back and redo this when I felt like I have learnt more.
